Greater Manchester Mental health (GMMH) NHS Willows Eating Disorder Service launched FREED in Salford on 1st March 2021. The service had a virtual launch and were really pleased to be joined by commissioner colleagues, experts by experience, AHSN colleagues and GMMH staff who have supported this exciting development.
The values of FREED align with those of the service in terms of responsiveness, inclusivity, flexibility and driving up standards of eating disorder care. The service welcomes the opportunity to share good practice with other eating disorder services to improve services for all.
FREED is part of exciting developments in the well-established service to improve eating disorder services for all adults and to provide parity of services across its contracted areas and with waiting times in Children and Young People’s Eating Disorder Services. The service praised the support of its local CCG commissioners in supporting these developments to offer an enhanced eating disorder service which will improve the lives of people with eating disorders in the Salford area.
FREED will be launching in other GMMH CCG areas over 2021 and is committed to this being available to all adults in the Greater Manchester area. The FREED pathway within GMMH will be available to adults aged 18-25. More information about GMMH Eating Disorder Service can be found at https://www.gmmh.nhs.uk/eating-disorder-service/
